On behalf of The Ventin Group Ltd. (+VG Architects), we photographed their 65 Delhi Transitional Housing adaptive-reuse project in Guelph, Ontario. The building has redefined and elevated the concept of a facility for those experiencing homelessness through the adaptive reuse of an esteemed historical edifice. It is the template for a new, much-needed building type, one with the gravitas and dignity of the original handful of civic institutions that define a community: city hall, courthouse, hospital, library and places of worship. As such, the facility’s mere physical presence has therapeutic value by helping improve users’ morale, sense of worth and connection with society.
